The Trickle Effect

Journey of Love

During Ash Wednesday Mass yesterday, part of the homily spoke of the Journey of Love. I immediately looked at my husband next to me, and our growing family in the pew in front of us. My heart was full.

My mind opened up and was flooded with memories of the ways my husband loves me. It also took me back to a reading from our wedding, 30 years ago,

1 Corinthians 13:4.7-8

The trickle effect continued and brought me to my sobriety – a daily reprieve, now at 2,063 days (but who’s counting 😝) when I realized God never left me. He was there all along. His love brought me to sobriety. Sobriety brought me back to Him. Sobriety is the glue that holds everything together. Sobriety strengthens my faith. Sobriety strengthens my marriage, family and all relationships. Sobriety gives me room for growth. Sobriety allows for my health & fitness journey to continue. Sobriety has a positive trickle effect. Drinking has a negative trickle effect, bringing the opposite of everything I’ve listed.

It was in Church yesterday, as I took it all in, the appreciation I have for my marriage. The trickle effect of all things good. One positive effect trickling down making a huge impact.
