Reflections of 2022

Good bye 2022, hello 2023 🎉 How are you feeling when you reflect back on the year? Is there anything that you would change moving forward into the new year of 2023?

I enjoyed looking back in my camera roll and reflecting on some of the highlights of 2022 and I hope you enjoy it too.

January 2022

January started off with special time with my Mom and preparing for my 10k Rock N Run with my husband, Steven. Thanks to generous donors, family and friends, $1,880.00 was raised and contributed to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

February 2022

Steven & I completed the 10K Rock N Run, exceeding my expectations with an average 13.36 mile (power-walking). Steven’s NM Awards Banquet was a festive occasion, as always 🎉. I was SO excited to have my son, Nicholas & his now fiancé, Christina, join us.

In other news, Shelby, my son in law, reveals his true love of dogs 😊. The men take their annual ski trip to our beloved Crested Butte, CO while my daughter, Katy, and granddaughter, Adalyn, go to Houston for a trip down memory lane. Katy was able to see the town of Katy (which she was named after) and our first home. It was a very special time for the men and the ladies ❤️

March 2022

March began with Nicholas 27th birthday 🥳 It was also followed with the bittersweet departure of Nicholas & Christina to their new home in California. So excited for their new life there, but missing them. They both got their dream jobs and have a bright future ahead of them. Steven’s annual MP Conference was held in Scottsdale, AZ and lucky for us they were passing through and we got one more last goodbye with them and Christina’s parents.

The MP Conference was like a big ole family reunion. It was SO good to be back together and reunited with our Northwestern Mutual family across the US. While there, I hosted my first book club!

March ended with lunch with my lifetime best friends, Jennifer & Missy and the successful completion of 75 Hard. What a month it was 🎉

April 2022

April began with the NBA Final Four, celebrating Adalyn’s SECOND birthday 🥳, Easter, Orangetheory PR as a power-walker and pizza time 😊

May 2022

We had the honor of attending Shelby’s brothers wedding and enjoyed family time and dancing 🥰 May also brought the celebration of Mother’s Day, showering Katy in anticipation of Rowan and lake time.

June 2022

June was by far the most emotional month of the year. We started by celebrating my Mom’s birthday which was filled with joy and laughter. With great anticipation, our third grandchild, Rowan arrived. He was a little early and his sweet life began with highs and lows. One moment he was on the mend, the next it seemed dire. But our little fighter came through and he is the happiest baby around. We truly are blessed with all of the prayer warriors that carried Rowan, Katy & Shelby during this time. The month ended with Steven & I meeting a special man and his lovely wife that I hold dear in my heart. So much laughter and good times packed into a short weekend. This trip will always hold a special place in my heart. God was with us through all of the highs and lows that June held and we thank HIM for his glory.

July 2022

Fireworks started off on July 3rd when Nicholas & Christina got engaged in San Francisco. Our family is overjoyed for them and we look forward to their wedding and Christina officially joining our family 🥰

One day at a time, I celebrated NINE years of sobriety on July 15th. By the grace of God 🙏🏼 Steven and I attended our first IDEA World Convention – the Super Bowl of fitness. I was in awe to be in company with such legends!!! It was quite the honor to meet my NASM hero Dr. Rick Richey. He also humbly won the IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year. WOW!!! I was also stoked to meet Lacee Green, WOOT WOOT, the curvy girl trainer, who won the IDEA Emerging Trailblazer award. What an experience 💥

In other fun news, I had a blast doing a lifestyle shoot with our favorite photographer, Heidi Bowers. And guess who went to their first NM Annual Meeting? Our lil warrior, Rowan. It was Steven’s last as MP before retirement, and the first of many for Rowan. Bonus: We met THOMAS RHETT & his beautiful wife, Lauren Akins. Lauren was the speaker for the Christian Fellowship breakfast and Thomas Rhett performed for our company show 🎉

August 2022

Life’s a beach with these girlfriends of mine!!! Mother and daughter time at one of Lafayette’s staple, LaFonda. Steven & I were FINALLY able to go visit Nicholas & Christina in California. What a TRIP! While we were in Cali, my Mom met her 3rd great grandchild ❤️

Oh, and I started college 💯. Yep, after a 36 year hiatus, I returned to UL-Lafayette online to pursue my degree in Kinesiology. Pictured below was my Phi Mu picture from my first go round in college. In addition to school, I also started working at a local gym as a personal trainer. 💪🏼

September 2022

Road trip to Crested Butte with Buster & Boomer. Lots of hiking, adventures, food and fun!!!

October 2022

Steven & I went to Atlanta to meet with his study group. We enjoyed the Atlanta Braves game, lots of good food and fellowship. Nicholas & Christina sent my Mom beautiful flowers. Back at home, a house divided but lots of fun at the New Orleans Saints game against the Seattle Seahawks game.

Our family had a long anticipated weekend planned to celebrate Rowan’s Baptism, Steven’s birthday and family fun. I may have been struck by a certain something that I dodged since 2020, but we made the best of it. Our month ended with some Halloween fun with our grands.

November 2022

November brought Carrie Underwood concert and Katy’s birthday. What does a 31 year old want for their birthday? A relaxing get away with her hubby. Steven & I enjoyed our grands (and survived!) for the weekend. This year, Steven and I had a California Thanksgiving where we enjoyed too much food, lots of games, laughter and the Saints/49ers game. So much food and laughter!!!

December 2022

The final month of the year I celebrated another birthday, Steven & I celebrated another wedding anniversary, and I finished my first semester back in college with a 4.0. Wait, what??? Yes, I did 💯 This was made possible by the most supportive family and friends ever. THANK YOU!!!

We had a wonderful Christmas in Lafayette with our families. Life is good and we are blessed.

That’s a wrap on 2022!!! Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy & Healthy 2023 🎉
