Walking is Good for the Soul

Yesterday I had the rare opportunity to sleep in. While I was excited and embraced it, it also threw my morning routine off. As the day went on, my excuses grew. Ironically, I was tired, I had a headache, blah blah blah. But I KNEW if I didn’t go on my walk, I would regret it. So I begrudgingly, laced up and headed out. In true fashion, I returned a new woman! 3.1 miles of fresh air, being in nature, finishing up a podcast and listening to some good music is good for the soul.

I’ve been enjoying the numerous benefits, both physical and mental, that walking has to offer since at least 2015. The consistency has contributed significantly to my overall well-being. Physically, walking is a low-impact exercise that improves cardiovascular health, strengthens muscles, and aids in losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight. Mentally, it provides an excellent opportunity to clear the mind, reduce stress, and boost mood by increasing the production of endorphins. Regular walking has also enhanced creativity (I often say that I solve the world’s problems during my walks!) and improve sleep patterns.

I may not always feel motivated to head out for my walk, but I’ve never regretted the decision once I’m on the move. I always return feeling refreshed and in a better mood! Walking has remained a reliable way to improve my mental clarity and overall happiness. Walking has been and always will be a cornerstone of my healthy lifestyle.
