Thankful Thursday ~ College Edition

“Embrace the unknown, for it often holds the seeds of growth and opportunity.”

This quote aligns perfectly with my experience thus far this semester. This is my 3rd semester back after a 36-year hiatus, and it is also the most challenging. I am working on completing my math requirements for my Kinesiology major and after a 39-year break from math, the struggle is real. One thing I learned real quick from last Fall, was to take the advice that I would tell my kids which is to reach out for help and get to know your teachers. I’m taking advantage of those who have offered their help and taking advantage of teachers virtual office hours.

Regardless if I’m taking a core subject like math, history, music or one of the interesting ones like my health classes, they each hold the seeds of growth and opportunity. My frustration (amidst many tears and tantrums) turns into determination. I will NOT allow this to deter me. I embrace the challenge of each class and do my best to make it fun and interesting. Taking advantage of available resources hold the seeds of growth and opportunity. LEAN IN. My journey would be so much more difficult without my support system and I’m forever grateful for each one of them. Learning is a lifelong pursuit, and each step, no matter how challenging, contributes to personal and academic growth.

Always Learning, Always Growing.
